The Weavers’ Triangle

Our project for the Finsley Gate/Healey Royd site in the Weavers’ Triangle included the development of concept designs for the re-use and conversion of Finsley Mill, one of the large historic structures on the site.
The upper drawing shows the proposed ‘hollowed-out’ structure of Finsley Mill with new insertions for offices and hotel.
The lower drawing shows a sketch development of the indicative masterplan.
Project for The Weavers’ Triangle, Burnley

A project for the mixed-use development of the Finsley Gate/Healey Royd site in the Weavers’ Triangle Conservation Area. The indicative masterplan for client St Modwen proposes housing and offices in a series of character areas. The scheme was prepared in consultation with the Prince’s Foundation, the Prince’s Regeneration Trust, English Heritage and Burnley Borough Council. The project has been submitted for Outline Planning Approval.

Walking from the Boulevard into the new square by the south transept of the Cathedral. The Deanery and Cathedral tower are in the distance; the refectory is in the middle ground with the gallery (linking Clergy Court to the Cathedral) above.

Camlin Lonsdale Landscape Architects in Llangadfan held a midsummer barbecue this weekend for friends, clients and collaborators. The studio that we designed for Robert Camlin, and which he built, is weathering beautifully and merging with the edge of the farmyard site. Trees have grown and enveloped the building and filter the daylight into the interior. Photoset.

The drawing shows an aerial view of the overall form of the proposed development. To the right of the drawing are the existing BT building and Postal Order pub. To the left is the Cathedral. The proposed new buildings enclose three new outdoor spaces to the south of the Cathedral.
